Interclub RC Sailing Challenge - 31 May 2019

This Sunday sees the first of our quarterly interclub challenges which will be held at Wemmer Pan starting at 10h00. All RC yachts are welcome to race, and we should see a fleet of SeaWinds, DF95s, IOMs and Marbleheads. The 'slower' boats normally get a one-minute head start and, depending on the wind conditions, this can sometimes result in SeaWinds winning races ahead of the 'faster' boats. The wind quality at Wemmer is excellent, with no trees to create turbulence and a long fetch of over a kilometre for the wind to stabilise. Come and enjoy some sailing fun and join the GMBC team so that we can demonstrate that our relatively new club (with many novices) is already a force to be reckoned with! There are no catering facilities at Wemmer, so bring your own food and drink, but there are full bathrooms. There is no shade and the foreshore gets hot, so make arrangements for your own portable shade. Remember that the M2 motorway is closed, so reroute accordingly. The entrance to the club is immediately north of the James Hall Museum of Transport, off Turf Road. If you do not want to race, it is Open Day at Emmarentia for all classes, sail and scale.
